As we approach the 2nd Anniversary of the Tsunami, Express by Holiday Inn Cardiff Bay is pleased to announce that it has succeeded in having 5 new homes built and completed for displaced families paid for by the generous donations raised through the hotel at the time of the disaster.
Through the charitable work of Embassy of Man, funds were mainly generated during the weekend of the Tsunami relief pop concert held at the Millennium Stadium in January 2005. This included all hotel proceeds from the weekend as well as donations from guests at Express by Holiday Inn Cardiff Bay and our three other sister hotels - Express by Holiday Inn Burton-upon-Trent, Wimbledon-South and Swindon City Centre.
Once the donations had been collected, one of the trustees for Embassy of Man traveled to Sri Lanka to ascertain the biggest needs and, as part of the rebuilding process of a community and country severely affected by the Tsunami, committed to build new homes through the charity. In close partnership with Hirdaramani Trust, five families with small children who were occupying a 10x10 meter room with common facilities during the past two years, were given a new life and new hope.

"Embassy of Man prides itself in being part of the rebuilding of Sri Lanka, albeit on a small scale. I am pleased to report that our involvement has made a significant and very positive difference in the lives of those who would benefit from a new home. The Trustees would like to thank everyone who partnered with us. We are especially grateful for the generous time and effort afforded us by Mahesh Hirdaramani and Nihal Jinadasa from Hirdaramani Trust," explained Minhaz Manji, Chairman of the Trustees.
